NMDC reports Record-Breaking performance in November 2025

NMDC Steel Limited (NSL), India’s youngest integrated steel plant, has achieved an exceptional operational performance in November 2025, setting multiple production records across its value chain. The company demonstrated remarkable process stability, operational excellence, and improved capacity utilization throughout the month. NSL’s Raw Material Handling System recorded its highest-ever single-day achievement with 616 wagons tippled on November 21, along with the highest monthly Base Mix production of 5,18,886 tons.

At the Sinter Plant, the company continued its upward trajectory by registering both daily and monthly production records, including 15,590 tons of sinter in a single day and 4,14,271 tons for the month, achieving over 105% capacity utilization. The Blast Furnace also delivered outstanding results, producing 11,315 tons of Hot Metal in a day, which is 119% of its rated capacity, and achieving a monthly total of 2,80,049 tons, crossing 101% capacity utilization. NSL also recorded its lowest-ever monthly average fuel rate of 519 kg per ton of Hot Metal, placing it among the best-performing steel plants in the country, and achieved a record PCI rate of 164 kg per ton.

The Steel Melting Shop and Thin Slab Caster–Hot Strip Mill delivered their highest monthly outputs to date, including 2,03,356 tons of HR Coil, 2,09,445 tons of Crude Steel, and 2,15,010 tons of Liquid Steel, with capacity utilization exceeding 84%, 85%, and 86% respectively. The plant further set a benchmark by achieving its best-ever converter lining life of 4,799 heats, and successfully transitioned two new steel grades—IS 2062 E450BR and IS 2062 E350C—to commercial production, expanding its product portfolio for construction, infrastructure, and heavy engineering sectors.

NSL also optimized its Oxygen Plant operations, resulting in ₹1.9 crore savings in power costs. Additional achievements include the successful completion of PG tests for the Blast Furnace (Pkg. 05) and Turbo Blower (Pkg. 10A), along with securing BIS certifications for IS 2041:2024 and IS 2062 E450BR. Commenting on the record-breaking performance, CMD Shri Amitava Mukherjee highlighted that these achievements reflect the dedication and discipline of the NSL team, reaffirming the company’s commitment to contributing significantly to India’s growing steel industry.
