NCLT new technical members appointed

The latest appointments of Technical Members to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) were made, 2023. The following individuals were appointed:

Prabhat Kumar, Chartered Accountant

Charan Singh, former Executive Director of UCO Bank

Anu Jagmohan Singh, former Member of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT)

Ashish Verma, Retd Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax

Madhu Sinha, former Director and Head of AML Compliance at CitiBank India

These appointments were made by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) in accordance with the provisions of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. The Technical Members will be responsible for providing technical expertise to the NCLT in matters related to insolvency and bankruptcy.

The NCLT is a quasi-judicial body that was established under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. It is responsible for adjudicating cases related to insolvency and bankruptcy of companies, limited liability partnerships, and individuals. The NCLT consists of Judicial Members and Technical Members. The Judicial Members are qualified lawyers, while the Technical Members are experts in fields such as accounting, finance, and law.

The appointments of the Technical Members to the NCLT are a significant development in the implementation of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. The Technical Members will play a vital role in ensuring that the NCLT is able to effectively adjudicate cases related to insolvency and bankruptcy.
