Key IAS officers reassigned in Assam

The Government of Assam has undertaken a comprehensive reshuffle among its IAS officers, aiming to streamline administrative responsibilities and improve governance delivery. Syedain Abbasi, previously holding several additional charges including Irrigation Department and Resident Representative in New Delhi, has been relieved of these responsibilities. Similarly, Kailash Chand Samaria, who was Chairman, Board of Revenue and ACS, Fishery, has now been entrusted with the Irrigation Department.

Mrs. L Sweety Changsan, returning from Central Deputation, has been posted as ACS, Revenue & Disaster Management, with additional roles in Tribal Affairs (Plain) and CEO of ASDMA. Meanwhile, B Kalyan Chakravarthy has been relieved of the Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship portfolio while retaining his leadership in other departments. Mukesh Sahu has been appointed as Principal Secretary, Transport Department, with additional charges including Border Protection and Assam Accord.

Further changes include Rakesh Kumar, who has been relieved from the Excise Department charge, while Ashwani Kumar takes on the role of Chief Data Officer under the Assam State Data Policy. Dr. Lakshmanan S is now the full-time Mission Director of NHM, Assam, with continuing responsibilities in Guwahati Smart City and selected industry portfolios.

Notably, Adil Khan now takes over as Secretary, Excise Department, alongside additional charges in Minority Welfare, Barak Valley Development, and Irrigation. New responsibilities have also been handed to Riju Gogoi (Home & Political), Deba Prasad Misra (Administrative Reforms & Training), and Pallav Gopal Jha, who now serves as MD, Guwahati Jal Board. Oinam Sarankumar Singh, Dilip Kumar Borah, and Dr. Jeevan B have also been reassigned with strategic portfolios. Megha Nidhi Dahal has been posted as Commissioner, Industries & Commerce as an additional charge, rounding off a reshuffle aimed at enhancing efficiency across departments.
