The Karnataka government has carried out a targeted IPS reshuffle, appointing senior police officers to key security and investigative positions. The move is aimed at enhancing the state’s crime investigation framework and cyber security preparedness.
Pranab Mohanty, who was serving as Director General of Police (Internal Security Division), has been appointed Director General of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Special Units and Economic Offences. In a significant responsibility enhancement, he has also been given the additional charge of DGP, Cyber Crime. Meanwhile, Chandragupta has been transferred from IG Security (Intelligence) to IG Intelligence, replacing Labhu Ram, whose next assignment is awaited. The reshuffle highlights the government’s emphasis on strengthening intelligence-led policing and tackling emerging cyber threats.
