The Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar (IIT Ropar) and Sardar Beant Singh State University (SBSSU), Gurdaspur have entered into a strategic academic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote education, research, and knowledge exchange.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director of IIT Ropar, and Prof. Sushendra Kumar Mishra, Vice-Chancellor of SBSSU Gurdaspur. The agreement establishes a five-year collaborative framework covering disciplines such as science, engineering, management, and social sciences.
Under the partnership, both institutions will facilitate faculty, researcher, and student exchanges at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. SBSSU students will be able to pursue semester-long training programs at IIT Ropar, while both universities will share laboratory facilities for academic and research purposes.
The collaboration also emphasizes joint research and development projects, sponsored research, consultancy initiatives, and the organization of seminars, conferences, workshops, and Faculty Development Programs (FDPs). Academic credits earned through exchange programs will be recognized in line with institutional norms.
This MoU marks a major step toward strengthening regional and national academic ecosystems by leveraging the complementary strengths of both institutions to promote innovation, research excellence, and global academic exposure.
