FPT INDUSTRIAL CELEBRATES IVECO’S 50th ANNIVERSARY AT THE ARBON R&D CENTER

Turin, Italy: FPT Industrial, the Iveco Group brand dedicated to the design, production, and sale of powertrains and solutions for on- and off-road vehicles, as well as marine and power generation applications, continued the celebrations for IVECO’s 50th anniversary. Last Friday, the R&D
Center in Arbon, Switzerland, welcomed employees for a Family & Friends Day and hosted local institutional representatives and stakeholders. The celebration included inspiring talks and round tables, taking guests on a journey through the past, present and future of propulsion, highlighting the company’s innovation and research.

Topics discussed during the day included the role of funded projects and collaborations in accelerating and scaling innovation, the impact of digital mobility and AI, and the development of zero-carbon propulsion and alternative fuels both today and in the future. Additionally, a panel focused on the role of “Swiss innovation” and opportunities for cross-border collaboration and attracting talent. The day concluded with laboratory tours and a networking session, offering participants new opportunities for discovery, sharing, and dialogue.

The Arbon R&D plant is one of FPT Industrial’s most advanced technology and innovation hubs in the world, and a true beacon of excellence for its local community. The center serves as a core of research and advanced engineering activities for internal combustion engines and the ePowertrain line-up, developing products for on-road, off-road, and racing applications. Here, more than 200 passionate people of 21 different nationalities work to
shape the solutions of tomorrow, today. Research into alternative fuels and zero-emissions solutions, ATS technologies, as well as hydrogen technology – both in combustion and fuel cell – are among the key focus areas of the facility’s work. Supporting and enhancing the value of human talent are dedicated laboratories, test benches and advanced assembly areas. The high technological value of these areas has also been developed with sustainability in mind: dyno test benches capture and convert otherwise lost energy into electricity, while waste heat is efficiently recovered and reused for space heating, public swimming pools, and temperature control in industrial cells.

The history of the Arbon R&D Center is closely linked to some of FPT Industrial’s most significant technological innovations, including recent developments for the eBS 37 EVO and eBS 69 battery packs, as well as for the hydrogen version of the XCURSOR 13. These key milestones reaffirm the innovation center in Arbon as a strong expression of FPT Industrial’s dual-pillar approach, sustaining leadership and innovation in internal combustion engines while investing in new zero-emission solutions.
