New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a one-year extension in service for Cabinet Secretary Dr. T.V. Somanathan, allowing the country’s top bureaucrat to continue in office beyond his scheduled retirement.
Dr. Somanathan, a 1987-batch IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, was due to retire on August 31, 2026. With the latest approval, he will continue serving as the Cabinet Secretary for another year, ensuring continuity in the Union Government’s administrative leadership.
