Justice Ramesh Ranganathan was sworn in as the Chief Justice of Uttrakhand High Court. The Supreme Court collegium earlier had recommended his name to the central government.

The seat fell vacant after his predecessor Justice KM Joseph was elevated to the top court.He obtained Law Degree from Bangalore University and enrolled as an Advocate in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh in November 1985.

He was a Government Pleader from 1996 to 2000, and the Additional Advocate General from July 2000 to May 2004.
