The special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court judge of Hyderabad K Ravinder Reddy has resigned, barely hours after acquitting the five accused in the Mecca Masjid blast case. Reddy handed over his resignation to the Metropolitan Sessions Judge.Reddy cited personal reasons for his resignation and said it had nothing to do with today’s judgment.

Judge Ravindra Reddy (top), who had acquitted Hindutva preacher Swami Aseemanand and four others in Mecca Masjid blast case, resigned hours after delivering the verdict. Earlier in the day, a special NIA court at Nampally in Hyderabad acquitted all accused in the case due to lack of evidence provided against the latter.
