The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Shaibal Kumar a Colonel of Planning & Engineering Branch of Indian Army, Eastern Command, Kolkata and three others including Sharat Nath, Managing Director of Pune-based Xtech Equipment Pvt Ltd, Vijay Naidu, a Director in the company and Amit Roy in an alleged bribery of Rs.50,000/-.

CBI had registered a case against Colonel and three others including Managing Director; Director & a Kolkata representative of Pune based private company. It was alleged that the Colonel had demanded a bribe of Rs.1.80 lakh from Managing Director of the aforesaid company in connection with the supply of Power Pack Rock Splitters, which are used by various field formations of the Army.

The Colonel was alleged to have already demanded & accepted a bribe of Rs.50,000/- during February 2017 and as part of the second installment of the bribe, the Colonel has now accepted Rs.50,000/- from the accused company. CBI tracked the Director of said private company who came from Pune to deliver the bribe to Colonel and nabbed him after the payment of bribe to the Colonel. CBI caught the Colonel and recovered the bribe from his residence. Searches have been conducted in four premises at Pune and two premises at Kolkata.
